MTN Nigeria is part of the MTN Group, Africa\'s leading cellular telecommunications company. On May 16, 2001, MTN became the first GSM network to make a call following the globally lauded Nigerian GSM auction conducted by the Nigerian Communications Commission earlier in the year. Thereafter the company launched full commercial operations beginning with Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. MTN paid $285m for one of four GSM licenses in Nigeria in January 2001. To date, in excess of US$1.8 billion has been invested building mobile telecommunications infrastructure in Nigeria. Since launch in August 2001, MTN has steadily deployed its services across Nigeria. It now provides services in 223 cities and towns, more than 10,000 villages and communities and a growing number of highways across the country, spanning the 36 states of the Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Many of these villages and communities are being connected to the world of telecommunications for the first time ever. The company\'s digital microwave transmission backbone, the 3,400 Kilometre Y\'elloBahn was commissioned by President Olusegun Obasanjo in January 2003 and is reputed to be the most extensive digital microwave transmission infrastructure in all of Africa. The Y\'elloBahn has significantly helped to enhance call quality on MTN network.

Reports To: Senior Manager - Sales Support Planning and Analytics

Division: Sales and Distribution

Mission:

  • To develop internal and external sources of intelligence on a continuous basis and integrate /manage data and information from diverse sources to guide strategic plans and decision processes within S&D  
  • To develop and implement plans for improving business intelligence in S&D through the reporting and analytics platform

Description:

  • Provide analytical commentary, interpret and analyze the impact of activities on revenues and subscriber profiling. 
  • Monitor and enforce (from a reporting view) S&D and MTNN’s business requirements compliance to the EDW strategy. 
  • Input into sales planning with sound analytics of both transactional and competitive market data and insights. 
  • Identify multiple relationships and disconnects using Big Data analytics to identify trends in customer dynamics  
  • Ensure that all information and data collected, stored, shared and reported are in line with MTNN Guidelines. 
  • Build and maintain up-to-date information on the MTNN sales channels and subscriber profile. 
  • Deliver on key business metrics i.e. Subs profiles, revenue, ARPU, Churn, Product Performance, competitive environment and their relevant metrics. 
  • Manage and report on the market share and share of voice,  and advice appropriately on the emerging market trend. 
  • Perform evaluations and produce reports on trade propositions, promotions and activities within MTNN S&D to give MTN a competitive advantage in the telecoms market.
  • Gather and analyze a variety of subscribers’ information/data relevant to business operations, market and customers 
  • Liaise with IS and other departments to ensure S&D and MTNN requirements are met by the EDW. 
  • Prepare presentations on S&D performance as may be required. 
  • Ensure data visualizations are accessible and easy to understand for non-technical stakeholders

Education:

  • First degree in a numerate discipline  
  • Fluent in English 
  • Possession of a Master’s degree may be an added advantage.

Experience:

6 - 13 years’ experience which includes:

  • At least five years’ experience in data analytics/insight generation or working as part of a reporting team using a modern reporting platform  
  • Experience in engagement with multiple management levels across technical users and business units. 
  • Experience in working with SAS, PowerBI, Oracle SQL and Statistical & Predictive Modelling.
