Role Overview
- The Fixed Income C Equities Associate will be responsible for conducting research, monitoring markets, and identifying investment opportunities across equities and fixed income instruments.
- The role also requires ensuring that all activities comply with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC Nigeria) regulations, as well as internal compliance policies.
- The associate will play a key role in portfolio monitoring, execution support, and providing investment recommendations to management.
Key Responsibilities
Equities s Fixed Income Analysis:
- Analyse equity and fixed income holdings using VaR and risk dashboards to monitor market movements, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide actionable recommendations to management on portfolio positioning, buy/sell decisions, and risk management strategies.
- Conduct daily Mark-to-Market valuations of equity and fixed income positions to ensure accurate portfolio valuation.
- Monitor macroeconomic trends, central bank policies, and regulatory changes affecting equities and fixed income markets.
- Identify and recommend profitable investment opportunities in the primary and secondary markets (bonds, T-bills, equities).
Market Data Management:
- Maintain and update Primary and Secondary Market Data Banks, including auction results, pricing, and yield curves.
- Provide daily updates of stock prices, corporate actions, and market releases (earnings, reports, etc.) to aid portfolio construction.
Trade Support s Documentation:
- Record and reconcile trades by maintaining accurate trade slips and blotters.
- Ensure timely reporting and reconciliation of trades in line with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all activities comply with SEC Nigeria rules and guidelines on equity and fixed income investments.
- Prepare and assist with SEC filings (monthly, quarterly, and annual returns, compliance certificates, and disclosures).
- Monitor compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) / Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT) requirements for investment transactions.
- Support internal and external audits and regulatory inspections, providing accurate records and reports.
Training s Capacity Development:
- Mentor and train analysts and interns on market analysis, valuation models (CAPM, DCF, yield curve pricing), and trading processes.
- Promote a culture of compliance, integrity, and analytical excellence across the team.
Academic s Professional Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (master’s degree is an advantage).
- Professional Certifications: At least one of CFA, ACA/ICAN, CIS, ACI or similar is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of financial markets, fixed income instruments, equities, and portfolio management.
- Familiarity with SEC Nigeria rules, NSE regulations, and CBN guidelines governing investment and trading activities.
- Advanced skills in Excel, Bloomberg, or other financial modelling tools.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.
