Role Overview
We are hiring a Press Release Distribution Specialist to handle the drafting, distribution, and amplification of company press releases across African and international markets. This role requires someone with a strong understanding of media relations, distribution platforms, and storytelling. The specialist will work closely with our content, PR, and marketing teams to ensure press releases not only reach the right publications but also generate meaningful coverage and brand visibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, edit, and proofread press releases to align with brand messaging and campaign objectives.
- Identify and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets across Africa and globally.
- Manage distribution through press release wires, direct outreach, and online PR platforms.
- Develop tailored media lists for specific announcements and target markets.
- Track coverage, measure distribution performance, and report results with actionable insights.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to integrate PR efforts into broader campaigns.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor press activity, and emerging media opportunities.
- Ensure all press releases meet industry standards, comply with AP style, and are optimized for SEO.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
- Proven experience drafting and distributing press releases with measurable results.
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with media databases, PR tools, and wire services.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with media professionals.
- Solid organizational and time management skills.
- Understanding of African and global media landscapes is an advantage.
