About Our Client

Our client is a nonprofit organisation building pathways to equity in Parkinson’s disease care. They achieve this by raising awareness, providing education, and advocating for Africans affected by Parkinson’s disease. Through their communications and community engagement initiatives, they centre the voices and lived experiences of individuals and communities affected by Parkinson’s, especially where stigma and lack of access to care persist.

Job Overview

We are seeking a creative Communications and Community Engagement Officer to lead storytelling, content creation, and community-building initiatives that raise awareness and deepen connections with stakeholders across Africa. The ideal individual will blend hands-on content creation with the ability to shape the NGO\'s Africa’s overall communication and engagement strategy. He/she will be central in crafting compelling narratives, designing engaging digital content, managing communications channels, and building meaningful relationships with people living with Parkinson’s, caregivers, and partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-design the communication strategy for the NGO.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies across digital platforms (website, social media, digital impact reports, email).
  • Oversee brand management by ensuring consistent application of brand guidelines, safeguarding brand identity and guiding appropriate use of brand assets.
  • Document and share impactful stories from people living with Parkinson’s and caregivers.
  • Design visually engaging graphics, social media posts, newsletters, and campaign materials.
  • Create programme and campaign specific content tailored to specific audiences, platforms and for specific objectives and campaign-specific content tailored to specific audiences, platforms, and
  • Write clear and compelling copy for the website, newsletters, reports, and external communications.
  • Build and manage online communities that support awareness, education, and engagement.
  • Occasionally meet with individuals, families, and stakeholders for interviews or field visits.
  • Regularly audit communication and community performance and assets and make recommendations
  • Track and report on the reach and impact of communications and engagement activities.

Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Excellent storytelling and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Canva, CorelDraw or similar graphic design tools.
  • Experience in community engagement and/or social impact communications.
  • Knowledge of social media strategy and content creation.
  • A strong sense of empathy, professionalism, cultural sensitivity and a commitment to a safe and respectful work culture.
  • Values workplace inclusivity and integrity.
  • Ability to work independently, remotely, and with minimal supervision.

Remote role.
