We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Centre Network and Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our robust and secure data centre network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Cisco and Juniper networking equipment, a deep understanding of networking protocols, and a strong background in implementing and managing security measures to protect critical data and systems. This role is crucial for ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of data center operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure within the data centre, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Configure and manage network devices from leading vendors such as Cisco (Nexus, Catalyst) and Juniper (EX, MX, SRX series).
- Implement and enforce security policies and access controls on firewalls, VPNs, ACLs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, secure data transmission and other security appliances to protect against threats.
- Diagnose and resolve complex network and security issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and security incidents.
- Configure and manage high-availability and redundancy protocols such as HSRP, VRRP, VPC, and VSS to ensure network uptime.
- Daily network monitoring on performance and proactively optimize configurations to improve efficiency and reduce latency.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of network topologies, configurations, and security policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems administrators and application developers, to support new projects and troubleshoot issues.
- Generate performance reports to analyze network usage and health
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert).
- JNCIP (Juniper Networks Certified Professional) or higher.
- Security: Palo Alto PCNSE, CISSP, or other relevant security certifications are a plus.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing data center networks and security solutions, including configuration of Cisco and Juniper devices, firewall management, and troubleshooting complex network issues.
- Experience with network automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform).
- Familiarity with cloud networking and security concepts in platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Load Balancing: Experience with load balancers (e.g., F5, A10 Networks).
Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and other routing and switching protocols.
- Strong understanding of firewall concepts, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network access control.
- Vendor Expertise: Hands-on experience with Cisco and/or Juniper network equipment.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical thinking is essential for diagnosing and resolving technical issues efficiently.
- Effective communication is crucial for explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent time management is necessary to prioritize and complete multiple tasks without disrupting operations.
- Collaboration skills are key to working seamlessly with IT teams and cross-functional departments.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
