Youth Initiative for Advocacy, Growth & Advancement (YIAGA) aka Youth Action Initiative Africa is a youth-based non-governmental organization that promotes democratic governance, human rights and youth political participation. YIAGA focuses on in-depth research, capacity development and public policy advocacy. Since its inception, the organization has carved a niche for itself as one of Nigeria’s frontline youth civil society organization promoting participatory democracy, human rights and active civic participation. With its operational base in Abuja, Nigeria, YIAGA started off in 2007 as a student association in University of Jos, Plateau State. Registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission CAC/IT/No.38620, YIAGA seeks to launch itself as an innovative "youth think and do” tank poised with the onerous mandate of enhancing the quality of democratic governance, human rights enforcement and youth political participation in Nigeria and Africa.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for initiatives addressing foreign information manipulation, disinformation, and election interference.
  • Lead the design and implementation of programs aimed at detecting, analyzing, and mitigating foreign influence operations targeting democratic processes.
  • Conduct research and analysis on information integrity, political communication ecosystems, and emerging threats to elections and democratic institutions.
  • Coordinate monitoring of digital platforms, media ecosystems, and information networks to identify patterns of manipulation and interference.
  • Develop program workplans, budgets, monitoring frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with civil society organizations, technology platforms, media organizations, election management bodies, and development partners to strengthen responses to information threats.
  • Lead the production of analytical reports, policy briefs, and knowledge products on foreign information interference and democratic resilience.
  • Represent Yiaga Africa in technical discussions, stakeholder engagements, and public forums on election integrity and information security.
  • Contribute to policy advocacy and public awareness initiatives that promote information integrity and electoral resilience.
  • Support resource mobilization efforts, including proposal development and donor engagement for programs focused on information integrity and elections.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements in all program activities and reporting.

  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience, with significant experience working on democracy, governance, information integrity, media policy, or election security.
  • Advanced Degree in Political Science, International Relations, Media Studies, Public Policy, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working on disinformation, digital threats, political communication, or foreign interference in democratic processes.
  • Experience managing multi-donor funded programs and partnerships.
  • Strong research, analytical, and policy development skills.
  • Ability to work with technology partners, media organizations, and civil society actors to strengthen democratic resilience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and data analysis or digital monitoring tools.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Proficiency in French and/or another Nigerian language is an advantage.
