Job description
- The Head of Data will be responsible for defining and executing the organization’s data strategy, ensuring data is effectively collected, governed, analyzed, and leveraged to drive business growth and innovation. This role requires a highly experienced leader who can build and scale a world-class data organization, driving data maturity across the company and ensuring alignment with business goals.
- The successful candidate will lead data governance, data engineering, analytics, business intelligence, and advanced data science initiatives while ensuring compliance with regulatory and security standards. They will act as a strategic partner to executives and a visionary leader for data-driven culture across the organization.
Data Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy, aligned with the company’s overall vision and objectives.
- Define a data maturity roadmap, driving adoption of data-driven decision-making across all departments.
- Own and articulate the data vision, ensuring the organization leverages data as a strategic asset.
- Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to company-wide strategy and innovation.
Data Management & Governance
- Establish and enforce data governance policies covering data ownership, stewardship, and accountability.
- Drive the implementation of data quality frameworks, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
- Oversee metadata management, master data management, and data lineage tracking.
Data Engineering & Architecture
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable data infrastructure, pipelines, and cloud-based platforms.
- Partner with Technology/Engineering teams to ensure robust data architecture that supports advanced analytics and AI initiatives.
- Ensure integration of multiple internal and external data sources into a unified enterprise data ecosystem.
Analytics, Insights & Data Science
- Oversee the development of advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning models to support predictive and prescriptive decision-making.
- Build and manage a centralized BI/analytics function to deliver actionable insights across all business units.
- Partner with business leaders to translate data into strategic recommendations and measurable outcomes.
- Champion self-service analytics tools and platforms, enabling non-technical teams to leverage data.
Team Leadership & Culture
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing data organization (data engineers, data scientists, analysts, BI developers, governance officers).
- Create a data-driven culture, promoting literacy, awareness, and adoption of data across the business.
- Define and manage KPIs and OKRs for the data function, ensuring delivery of high-value outcomes.
- Foster collaboration between Data, Product, Technology, Finance, Marketing, and Operations.
Key Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field.
- Advanced degree (MSc, MBA, or PhD) strongly preferred.
Experience:
- 12+ years of progressive experience in data management, analytics, or data science, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven success in designing and executing enterprise-wide data strategies.
- Experience building and scaling data platforms, cloud data solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP), and modern data stacks.
- Strong understanding of AI, machine learning, and emerging data technologies.
- Demonstrated track record of influencing executive-level stakeholders using data insights.
- Background in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare, telecom) is a plus.
Skills:

- Strong data governance, security, and compliance expertise.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Technical proficiency in SQL, Python/R, Spark, Hadoop, ETL pipelines, data modeling, and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
- Strong business acumen to connect data insights with strategic business outcomes.
