eHealth Africa is focused on improving healthcare by creating effective ways to implement reliable health information management systems. We have developed eHealth and mHealth solutions that can be rapidly deployed to manage patient information, streamline clinical procedures, and provide data and analysis on health program outcomes. Accurate health data will provide NGO’s, hospitals, and donor agencies with access to timely health system indicators needed to evaluate their health interventions and respond to critical public health needs. We bring about positive change by harnessing the potential of technology, valuing the power and knowledge of local people, and maintaining a sharp focus on the health worker. To help close the gap in access to health care we have developed and share a depth of expertise in: eHealth and mHealth software and solutions Technology Infrastructure Training and capacity building for sustainable health systems Research and data analysis Project Management eHealth Africa works closely with health NGOs in order to provide them with technology solutions that will enhance their on-going and new health programs. We also strive to work with state and government officials to manage large scale implementations at health facilities across the country. eHealth and Information Systems Africa, Inc. is a California, USA Public Service Corporation. We have offices based in California, USA, and Kano, Nigeria.

Purpose of the Internship 

  • The purpose of this internship program is to promote employability through providing an opportunity for work experience to recent graduates from and university students in career transition. It is also an avenue to help develop leadership competencies and promote the participation of women in decision-making roles in key development spaces. 

Description of Tasks

The intern will initiate /assist/report/monitor and develop the following initiatives, and the planning of regular meetings as well as facilitate knowledge exchange. S/he will be able to reconcile theoretical experiences with practicable processes with keen specifics to the following: The intern will be expected to:

  • Develop basic data analytics with the use of excel, python and r-programming language.
  • Map production to support deliverables

  • Utilise the department development infrastructure, GIS applications and provide feedback as appropriate
  • Contribute to building a productive and pleasant working environment using senior team members as role models
  • Assist in the operations and processes of GIS related tasks needed to improve on existing solutions in the Product & Services department. 
  • Communicate findings and facilitate knowledge dissemination and exchange among various interested parties.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the head of department or line manager.

Skills to be developed

  • The intern will develop a strong knowledge of public health, project and program management, digital health, vaccine-preventable diseases etc.  
  • The intern will gain exposure to real-world project and program management processes and concerns
  • The intern will gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies
  • The intern will develop better report-writing skills in the communication context to both technical and non-technical audiences

Standard Minimum Qualifications

  • Only qualified female candidates are eligible to apply.
  • First Degree or equivalent in the relevant field of studies. 
  • Additional consideration will be given to any professional experience relevant to the function you’re applying for.
  • At least 1 to 2 years experience in the relevant field
  • NYSC Certificate of completion/Exemption/Exclusion is compulsory
