Job Overview
The Networks & Communications Support Officer will be responsible for the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of the organization’s network and communication systems. The role ensures high network performance, reliability, and security across all enterprise systems, supporting seamless business operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in network infrastructure, troubleshooting, and communications technologies, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity and secure network operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, manage, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
- Monitor network performance and ensure high availability and reliability
- Troubleshoot network and communication issues promptly
- Implement network security measures, including firewall rules, VPNs, and access control
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, incidents, and resolutions
- Support IT projects, network upgrades, and infrastructure expansions
- Collaborate with IT, operations, and business teams to optimize network performance
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements
- Assist in audits, vulnerability assessments, and network health checks
Technical Competencies
- Expertise in configuration and management of routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VPN, and network protocols
- Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar)
- Understanding of network security principles, VLANs, and subnetting
- Ability to troubleshoot connectivity and communication issues effectively
- Awareness of cloud networking and hybrid infrastructure is an advantage
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or similar are an advantage
