Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), a public limited liability company, was established as a bank holding company in 1985 under a private sector initiative spearheaded by the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and Industry with the support of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). In the early 1980’s foreign and state-owned banks dominated the banking industry in West Africa. Commercial banks in West Africa owned and managed by the African private sector were a rarity. Its founders created ETI with the objective of filling this vacuum. The Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce promoted and initiated a project to create a private, regional banking institution in West Africa. In 1984, Ecopromotions S.A. was incorporated. Its founding shareholders raised seed capital for feasibility studies and the promotional activities leading to the creation of ETI.

Key Responsibilities

Market & Industry Research Conduct research on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor strategies. Analyze economic, regulatory, and technological changes impacting the business. Identify opportunities for innovation and product enhancement. Data Collection & Analysis Gather qualitative and quantitative data through surveys, interviews, and secondary research. Interpret complex datasets to extract insights that inform decision-making. Use statistical tools and data visualization to present findings. Product & Business Development Support Assist in ideating and developing new products and services. Evaluate feasibility, cost implications, and potential market impact of new initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, product, operations) to refine concepts. Reporting & Documentation Prepare detailed research reports, presentations, and recommendations for stakeholders. Maintain a database of research findings, industry benchmarks, and case studies. Document processes and best practices for future reference. Innovation & Continuous Improvement Identify areas for operational or product improvement based on research insights. Stay updated on R&D methodologies, tools, and industry best practices. Support testing and validation of new ideas through pilot programs or experiments.
