A major infrastructure development project commencing within the Illela–Gidan Madi–Binji–Silame corridor of North-West Nigeria requires experienced Social Workers ready to function as Community Liaison Officers (CLOs).
Candidates must either reside within this operational axis or be able to relocate immediately.
Role Summary
Successful candidates will serve as frontline community engagement officers, supporting project consultants and management in implementing structured social safeguards across host communities.
Key duties include:
- Conducting community consultations and stakeholder engagements.
- Receiving, documenting, and tracking grievances in line with project procedures.
- Carrying out social baseline studies and field data collection.
- Supporting resettlement, livelihood, and compensation monitoring activities.
- Implementing awareness campaigns (Grievance Mechanism, Health & Safety, GBV, Cultural Heritage, Worker Conduct).
- Preparing structured daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Traveling regularly across rural and peri-urban communities within the project corridor.
Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Community Development, Development Studies, Anthropology, or related discipline.
- Minimum 3–7 years proven field experience on infrastructure or large-scale development projects.
- Demonstrated experience in grievance handling and stakeholder engagement (mandatory).
- Experience conducting socio-economic surveys and community research.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Hausa language proficiency is highly desirable.
- Must be available for immediate deployment.
- Must reside within or be able to relocate immediately to the Illela–Binji–Silame operational axis.
