Role Overview
- The Academic and Technical Manager will provide overall academic leadership and technical management of the Institute’s digital skills training programs. The role requires strategic planning, curriculum innovation, technical oversight, and faculty management to ensure that training programs remain relevant to emerging industry demands. This position plays a pivotal role in aligning academic content, technical resources, and research output to position UIT as a leader in digital skills education.
Key Responsibilities
Academic & Curriculum Leadership
- Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of curricula in cutting-edge digital skills (AI, Data Science, Cybersecurity, IoT, Robotics, Drone Technology, AR/VR, Blockchain, Cloud Computing).
- Conduct training needs assessments to align programs with industry standards, certification requirements, and global best practices.
- Ensure academic quality assurance by coordinating peer reviews, feedback loops, and performance evaluations.
- Supervise trainers, technical instructors, and adjunct faculty to deliver high-quality instruction.
- Publish and oversee peer-reviewed research papers, white papers, and institutional reports.
- Mentor faculty and staff to advance professional growth and academic excellence.
Technical Management & Innovation
- Oversee the integration of digital tools, platforms, and equipment (e.g., 3D printers, drones, robotics, VR labs) into training delivery.
- Ensure compliance with technical standards, safety regulations, and ethical guidelines in training environments.
- Drive procurement, management, and utilization of specialized equipment and technology.
- Provide technical expertise in SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) and CKD (Completely Knocked Down) procurement processes for sensitive security-related technologies.
- Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to maintain infrastructure for technical training.
Research & Industry Collaboration
- Develop research programs and foster publication of institutional research in reputable journals.
- Coordinate the peer review process for academic and technical research papers.
- Build partnerships with industry, academia, and government agencies to strengthen training relevance and innovation.
- Represent UIT in conferences, symposia, and research collaborations to enhance institutional visibility.
Operational & Strategic Management
- Work closely with the Director to implement academic and technical strategies in alignment with UIT’s mission.
- Manage budgets related to academic programs and technical resources.
- Organize workshops, seminars, hackathons, and innovation challenges to foster applied learning.
- Develop schedules for courses, meetings, and projects to optimize efficiency and learner outcomes.
- Monitor academic and technical performance through KPIs, learner assessments, and program evaluations.
- Prepare and present periodic reports, highlighting program effectiveness, challenges, and opportunities.
- Perform additional tasks assigned by the Director to support institutional goals.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Master’s degree (minimum) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Education Technology, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in academic administration, digital skills training, or technical program management.
- Demonstrated expertise in emerging technologies (AI, Robotics, Drone Technology, Data Science, Cybersecurity, IoT).
- Experience in writing, publishing, and reviewing research papers in academic or industry journals.
- Strong background in SKD and CKD procurement processes for technical/security equipment is desirable.
