Chief Technology Officer at Verraki

  • As Chief Technology Officer (CTO) you will provide strategic and technical leadership for the development, implementation, and evolution of the bank’s entire technology stack.
  • This role owns the enterprise’s technology architecture, engineering delivery, and innovation agenda — ensuring that platforms are scalable, secure, and future-ready in line with business and regulatory demands.
  • You'll operate at the highest organisational level, defining and leading the institution's technology direction within overarching business objectives, assuming full accountability for all technology-related initiatives and outcomes.

Key Qualifications and Competencies 

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.? 
  • Master's degree in Technology Management or Innovation preferred.? 
  • Relevant certifications in enterprise architecture, cloud, or agile (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Architect, SAFe).? 
  • 10+ years in senior technology roles, including 5+ years in architecture or engineering leadership? 
  • Experience delivering large-scale systems in complex environments? 
  • Background in cloud-native development, cybersecurity, and modern infrastructure? 

Skills & Attributes 

  •  Proven expertise in core banking platforms like Finacle or Oracle FLEXCUBE. 
  • Strong leadership in hybrid cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and VMware. 
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes for infrastructure automation. 
  • Deep knowledge of SD-WAN, Zero Trust, and enterprise network security (Cisco, Fortinet). 
  • Track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure and cloud transformation. 
  • Engineering-first mindset with fluency in DevSecOps and modern delivery models. 
  • Strong communicator with the ability to engage executive and regulatory stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership 

  • Define and execute the enterprise technology strategy aligned with corporate growth, customer experience, and regulatory compliance. 
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive committee on all technology-related matters, including risk, resilience, and innovation. 
  • Champion the bank’s digital evolution, ensuring technology is a competitive enabler, not just a support function

Architecture & Engineering Excellence 

  • Lead the development and governance of enterprise architecture across core banking, digital channels, middleware, and cloud platforms. 
  • Oversee engineering delivery, DevSecOps practices, and technical standards to enable scalable and agile product development. 
  • Drive system modernization, infrastructure optimization, and service reliability engineering (SRE) practices. 

Operational Resilience & Cybersecurity 

  • Ensure that all technology operations are resilient, compliant with local (e.g., CBN, NDPR) and international standards, and prepared for business continuity challenges. 
  • Oversee cybersecurity frameworks, incident response readiness, and infrastructure hardening to protect against evolving threats. 
  • Innovation & Emerging Technology
  • Lead the exploration, validation, and deployment of emerging technologies (AI, cloud-native services, open banking APIs, blockchain, etc.) to improve product delivery and operational efficiency. 
  • Establish partnerships with fintech, technology vendors, and academic institutions to drive innovation. 

Talent, Culture & Leadership  

  • Build and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary technology organization focused on accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement. 
  • Attract, retain, and mentor top-tier technology talent within Nigeria and the broader African technology ecosystem. 
  • Drive agile mindsets, product thinking, and collaboration across business and technology functions.

Governance, Risk & Regulatory Engagement

  • Engage proactively with regulators (CBN, NDPC, etc.), auditors, and internal governance committees to ensure technology practices meet all required standards. 
  • Serve as a board-level technology representative for risk, audit, and strategy discussions.
