  • The Communications & Media Manager at Renaissance Innovation Labs leads the strategic development and execution of all communications, media relations, and brand storytelling activities. You will position the lab as a leading voice in innovation, science, and emerging technology shaping narratives that engage the public, attract partners, and amplify the impact of our programs and research.
  • This is a senior, high-visibility role requiring both strategic vision and hands-on execution. The ideal candidate brings a blend of journalistic instinct, brand sensibility, and digital fluency.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications

  • Develop and execute an integrated communications strategy aligned with the lab's mission and innovation agenda
  • Create messaging frameworks, narrative arcs, and positioning statements for all major initiatives and programs
  • Advise leadership on communications strategy, media opportunities, and reputational management
  • Manage the lab's annual communications calendar and editorial planning
  • Lead crisis communications planning and response in coordination with senior leadership

Media Relations

  • Build and maintain a proactive network of journalists, editors, and media houses across print, broadcast, and digital
  • Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, op-eds, and story pitches
  • Secure earned media coverage in tier-one national and international outlets
  • Prepare spokespeople and researchers for media interviews, press briefings, and public appearances
  • Monitor and analyse media coverage; produce regular media monitoring reports

Content & Brand

  • Oversee the creation of compelling content: articles, case studies, white papers, newsletters, and annual reports
  • Maintain and evolve the lab's visual identity, tone of voice, and brand guidelines
  • Commission and manage relationships with creative agencies, designers, videographers, and photographers
  • Lead production of multimedia assets including podcasts, video content, and documentary-style lab features
  • Ensure brand consistency across all internal and external communications touchpoints

Digital & Social Media

  • Manage the lab's website content strategy, SEO, and digital presence
  • Own and grow social media channels (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) with platform-tailored strategies
  • Analyse digital performance metrics and optimise content strategy based on data insights
  • Develop thought leadership campaigns that position lab researchers and program leads as industry experts
  • Coordinate with program teams to amplify innovation stories through digital storytelling

Events & Public Engagement

  • Lead communications for flagship events: conferences, demo days, innovation summits, and public lectures
  • Develop pre-, during-, and post-event communications campaigns to maximise reach and impact
  • Represent the lab at media and industry events as communications spokesperson where required
  • Manage external communications for stakeholder briefings, investor relations, and government engagements
