The Center For Community Awareness And Youth Empowerment Initiative (CAYEI) is a youth-led organization that focuses on women's and youth empowerment, humanitarian aid, environmental stewardship, and community development. It works to increase access to resources for underserved communities and addresses issues like hunger, malnutrition, poverty, unemployment, and environmental challenges. The organization has been involved in activities like monitoring public projects to ensure transparency and engaging in community dialogues on issues such as drug abuse prevention.
Role Purpose
- The Communications Officer leads the organisation’s communication and visibility efforts, ensuring effective content creation, media engagement, documentation, and knowledge-sharing. The role supports donor visibility requirements, strengthens CAYEI’s storytelling, and promotes transparency and accountability in line with humanitarian principles.
Key Areas of Accountability
Content Creation & Digital Media
- Develop and disseminate social media posts, press releases, newsletters, and other communication
- materials.
- Capture and edit high-quality photographs, videos, and visual content to support storytelling.
- Ensure all communication materials meet branding, ethical, and donor visibility standards.
Documentation & Reporting
- Document success stories, lessons learned, and field observations.
- Maintain organised digital and physical archives of communication materials.
- Support project teams with documentation for donor reporting and visibility purposes.
Media Engagement & Public Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and stakeholders.
- Support media campaigns, press conferences, and advocacy activities.
- Represent CAYEI in communication-related meetings when required.
Visibility & Branding Compliance
- Ensure all projects adhere to donor and organisational branding guidelines.
- Monitor visibility requirements and support implementation across all program activities.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in communication within NGOs, media organisations, or development contexts.
- Strong writing, editing, and digital communication skills.
- Experience with photography, video editing, or graphic design is an added advantage.
