JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
System Uptime and Reliability
- Ensure databases achieve 99.9% uptime or higher, supporting business continuity and minimizing service interruptions.
- Proactively monitor and resolve database performance issues to avoid downtime.
Data Security and Compliance
- Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive data, including encryption, user access control, and compliance with regulations such as GDPR and HIPAA.
- Conduct regular audits and ensure databases adhere to compliance and security standards.
Performance Optimization and Tuning
- Continuously optimize database performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks, enhancing indexing, and improving query efficiency.
- Manage database capacity and plan for future scalability to support growing data loads and business requirements.
Backup and Disaster Recovery
- Develop, test, and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data and ensure quick restoration in the event of data loss or system failure.
- Ensure disaster recovery solutions are in place, minimizing data loss and downtime.
Project and Change Management
- Lead database-related projects such as upgrades, migrations, and new deployments, ensuring timely delivery and minimal disruption to operations.
- Implement version control for database schema changes and adhere to proper change management protocols.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Communication
- Work closely with developers, system administrators, and business units to ensure databases align with business objectives and needs.
- Communicate database performance, issues, and upgrades to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
User Support and Troubleshooting
- Provide ongoing support for users and other technical teams by troubleshooting database issues and delivering effective solutions.
