- The Network Engineer designs, implement, maintain, and support the growing network infrastructure. You will be part of a systems engineering team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other members of the team in managing the exchange point network;
- Administer personal computers, network devices, and servers.
- Develop, maintain, and implement operating procedures that optimize network performance and availability.
- Manage software installation and ensure applications (monitoring and operating) are updated as and when due.
- Plan, implement and manage network security solutions including firewalls as well as other security systems.
- Manage network incidents and document resolutions for future reference.
- Formulation of procedures and work instructions related to network and service integration
- Design and facilitate content for the IXPN academy curriculum
- Carrying out any other duty as assigned by superiorRequirements
- A university degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or any other ICT-related discipline.
- Relative experience in a similar capacity.
- Work experience in an ISP will be an added advantage
- Relevant qualification/certification e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCP, RHCSA
- Good knowledge of computer operating systems including Windows and UNIX.
- Sound knowledge of computer networks and TCP/IP protocol suite.
- Ability to install computer network systems, and applications.
- Competence in Cisco Command Line Interface for managing network devices.
- Ability to troubleshoot computer systems and network issues.
- Excellent written communication skills
- Creative, innovative, and willing to contribute ideas and professional opinion.
- A good team player.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
