JOB OBJECTIVE
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the management, operations, and continuous evolution of the organization’s Data Centre infrastructure.
- The role ensures high availability, performance, security, and efficiency of Data Centre systems while aligning infrastructure strategy with business goals and regulatory requirements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Define, own, and execute the Data Centre strategy and long-term roadmap.
- Drive infrastructure modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption, hybrid environments, and virtualization.
- Develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR) strategies for mission-critical systems.
- Oversee Data Centre budgets, cost optimization, vendor contracts, and capacity planning.
Operations Management
- Ensure 24/7 availability, reliability, and performance of Data Centre infrastructure.
- Manage physical and virtual server environments, storage systems, backup solutions, and network connectivity.
- Oversee environmental controls including power, cooling, and physical infrastructure.
- Monitor capacity, utilization, and system health to support proactive scalability and growth.
Governance, Compliance & Security
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, Uptime Institute Tiers).
- Implement and enforce Data Centre security policies, access controls, and physical/environmental safeguards.
- Coordinate audits, risk assessments, incident reviews, and mitigation plans.
Team & Vendor Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Data Centre team (managers, engineers, technicians).
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to support infrastructure projects and operational needs.
- Manage third-party vendors and service providers for maintenance, upgrades, and support services.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree or MBA is an added advantage.
- Certifications (Added Advantage)
- CDCP, CDCS, ITIL, PMP, CISSP
- AWS, Azure, or other cloud infrastructure certifications
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing large-scale Data Centres, hybrid environments, and high-availability systems.
