Benin Electricity Distribution Plc. (BEDC) is one of the retail electricity distribution companies licensed by the federal government Benin Electricity Disco ("BEDC” or "Benin Disco”) is one of the successor distribution companies (Discos) created following the unbundling and privatization of the state-owned Power Utility, Power Holding Company of Nigeria Plc. BEDC is responsible for retail distribution of electricity in Delta, Edo, Ekiti, and Ondo States with geographical coverage of 55,770 square kilometers. The company operates from twenty five (25) business districts with approximately 350 offices located across the four (4) states with about 13 million people and about 4 million households.

Job Description:

  • As the Head of Corporate Communication at Benin Electricity Distribution Company, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our communication strategies.
  • You will be responsible for enhancing our brand's reputation, managing internal and external communications, and fostering positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Your creative thinking and strategic approach will be essential in promoting our mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Manage internal and external communication channels, including social media, press releases, and corporate website.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, influencers, and industry partners.
  • Oversee crisis communication and reputation management.
  • Lead a team of communication professionals, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Measure and analyze the effectiveness of communication efforts and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency in messaging.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to drive innovation in communication.


  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in corporate communication, PR, or related roles with a minimum of 5years of leadership experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
