Head, Technical Operations at IpNX Nigeria Limited

ipNX Nigeria Limited is a leading provider of infrastructure-based Telecommunications and Information Technology services here in Nigeria. Leveraging more than a decade of experience, the company was formed by the divestment of the telecommunications services division of Telnet Nigeria Limited and has been in operation for many years. ipNX currently provides a range of communications and IT services to Corporate organizations within Nigeria on its IP (Internet Protocol) based communications network using both radio and satellite communications technologies. As part of its growth strategy, ipNX seeks to also extend its services to small and medium sized businesses and residential customers. In the long term, ipNX has determined that it needs also to have a strategic presence in the wire line market to ensure that we will be able to provide future services, which require high bandwidth in the last mile.

Purpose: 

  • The Head, Technical Operations collaborates with the Divisional CEO to develop and execute the long-term technical strategy for the Business Division, focusing on network design, optimization, security, service delivery, and program managementThe role involves leading the technical team to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Your Responsibilities: 

  • Leadership & Coordination: Oversee 24/7 technical infrastructure operations, manage IT infrastructure services, set team goals, prioritize projects, and develop IT strategies
  • Network Architecture Design: Design scalable, fault-tolerant platforms for corporate clients, ensuring adherence to best practices and customer SLAs
  • Strategic Infrastructure Management: Set strategic objectives, maintain technology roadmaps, and lead implementation of infrastructure to transform customer businesses
  • Project Support: Provide architecture support for internal operations and the Project Management Office, manage program development, and oversee project execution
  • Operational Excellence & Efficiency: Establish KPIs, foster a data-driven culture, optimize processes, and develop capacity planning for network and infrastructure

Your required Key Competencies: 

  • Lead and inspire technical teams, fostering commitment and trust
  • Design and implement network and infrastructure strategies, ensuring high availability and business continuity
  • Manage large-scale, highly available systems and deliver concurrent technical projects in Agile environments
  • Utilize automation and process improvements to drive operational efficiency
  • Make strategic decisions under uncertainty and resolve conflicts effectively

Your Required Educational Qualifications & Skills: 

  • Academic: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field (2.2/Upper Credit minimum); Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA preferred
  • Professional: ITIL and PMP certifications desirable

Functional Skills: 

  •  Expertise in network optimization, business continuity, and disaster recovery
  •  Knowledge of application virtualization (e.g., Oracle, Citrix)
  •  Strong interpersonal, strategic, and analytical skills
  •  Advanced technical knowledge of infrastructure and hardware development lifecycles

Your Expected Work Experience: 

  • Minimum 15 years in network and infrastructure operations, with 10 years as a technical operations manager or lead
  • Proven experience in delivering complex technical projects, facilitating architectural discussions, and managing concurrent projects with aggressive schedules
