Job Overview

  • The IT Security Support Officer will be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of the organization’s IT systems and networks.
  • This role involves monitoring, managing, and responding to security threats, implementing security protocols, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge in IT security tools, network monitoring, and endpoint protection, along with problem-solving skills to ensure a secure and resilient IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor network and system activity for security breaches or anomalies
  • Respond to security incidents and escalate issues as needed
  • Implement and maintain firewalls, antivirus, endpoint protection, and intrusion detection systems
  • Manage user access controls, authentication, and permissions
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and risk analysis of IT infrastructure
  • Maintain documentation of security incidents, resolutions, and system changes
  • Collaborate with IT, operations, and compliance teams to enforce security policies
  • Assist in audits, regulatory compliance checks, and security reporting
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on cybersecurity best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP (associate), or CISM are an advantage.

Technical Competencies:

  • Knowledge of firewalls and VPNs
  • Strong knowledge of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Single Sign-On (SSO), and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
  • Experience with security monitoring tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS)
  • Expertise in network security and endpoint protection
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and identity/access management
  • Understanding of Windows Server and Office 365 security configurations
  • Awareness of cloud security principles (Azure, AWS) is an advantage.
