Broadoaks British School is an all-through international school located in the prestigious Maitama district of Abuja, Nigeria. Established in 2016, the school offers education from reception to year 10 (expanding to year 11 in 2025), following the national curriculum for England and Wales, iGCSE, and Cambridge checkpoints. JOB SUMMARY
- To ensure the optimal performance, security, and maintenance of the school's server room infrastructure, ensuring uninterrupted access to IT systems and services.
- The IT Server Room Technician is responsible for managing and maintaining the school's server hardware, network infrastructure, and backup systems. This role ensures the availability, efficiency, and security of critical IT services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and monitor server hardware, storage systems, and network devices
- Ensure the availability and reliability of IT services by performing routine checks and maintenance
- Implement and enforce server room security policies and procedures
- Monitor and maintain all installed CCTV
- Trouble shoot CCTV and the server where and when necessary.
- Manage user access and permissions for critical IT systems
- Perform regular backups and ensure data recovery readiness
- Troubleshoot hardware, network, and software issues in the server room
- Ensure proper ventilation, cooling, and power supply management for servers
- Install and configure servers, network switches, and related IT equipment
- Monitor system performance and optimize server efficiency
- Keep up with software updates, patches, and security upgrades
- Maintain documentation of system configurations, incidents, and maintenance activities
- Collaborate with external vendors for procurement, repairs, and upgrades
- Assist in IT infrastructure expansion and implementation of new technologies
- Support IT security measures such as firewall configurations and antivirus updates
- Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
- IT Security certifications
- Certification in data protection or information governance is a plus
- Minimum 3 years of experience in IT security, preferably in the education sector
- Strong knowledge of IT security frameworks
- Experience with security technologies
- Excellent problem solving, communication and analytical skills
- Experience with cloud security and IT service management tools is a plus
- Knowledge of data analytics and visualisation tools
- Familiarity with educational IT systems is a plus
