About the job

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Linux System Administrator to join our IT team and ensure the stability, security, and optimal performance of our infrastructure. The ideal candidate will manage and support on-premises and cloud-based Linux environments, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot complex issues to ensure seamless operations across the organization.
  • This role requires deep hands-on experience with Linux server administration, system automation, monitoring, and performance tuning, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) across on-premises and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or Nutanix).
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability using tools such as Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, or Zabbix.
  • Implement and manage security best practices, including user access controls, patch management, and configuration hardening.
  • Perform routine maintenance, OS updates, and kernel upgrades while ensuring system uptime and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server, storage, and network-related issues efficiently to minimize downtime.
  • Manage and maintain DNS, DHCP, NTP, and SMTP services, along with configuration files under /etc/.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration details, and operational procedures.
  • Automate routine administrative and deployment tasks using Bash, Python, or Ansible.
  • Manage user accounts, groups, and permissions via command-line tools and directory services (e.g., LDAP, FreeIPA, or Active Directory integration).
  • Support backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations using enterprise backup solutions.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to optimize infrastructure for performance, reliability, and scalability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Linux System Administrator or in a related infrastructure role.
  • Strong proficiency in Linux server administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or SUSE).
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., Nutanix AHV, VMware, or KVM).
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and hybrid deployments.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting and automation (Bash, Python, or Ansible).
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs, firewalls).
  • Experience managing storage systems, logical volumes (LVM), and RAID configurations.
  • Familiarity with system monitoring, logging, and performance tuning tools.
  • Experience with backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), CompTIA Linux+, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or similar are a plus.
