Job Summary

The Public Relations & Media Officer is responsible for managing the organization’s image, media presence, and communication activities. This role focuses on building strong relationships with the public, media houses, stakeholders, and online communities while ensuring consistent messaging, positive brand perception, and effective dissemination of information across channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement PR strategies to enhance the company’s reputation and public visibility.
  • Prepare and distribute press releases, media statements, and official communication materials.
  • Manage crisis communication and support the development of response strategies.
  • Liaise with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across communication touchpoints.
  • Draft speeches, talking points, newsletters, and communication content for executives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media houses, bloggers, and influencers.
  • Organize and coordinate press conferences, media briefings, and interviews.
  • Monitor media coverage, prepare media reports, and identify areas for PR improvement.
  • Secure media placements, features, and brand visibility across print, TV, radio, and digital channels.
  • Create engaging digital content for social media, websites, newsletters, and publications.
  • Oversee the company’s online presence, ensuring timely and strategic communication.
  • Collaborate with the digital/creative team to develop multimedia content (videos, graphics, campaigns).
  • Track online trends, sentiment, and analytics to improve online engagement.
  • Support planning and execution of corporate events, community engagements, and promotional activities.
  • Manage event communication materials such as press kits, brochures, and media invites.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience in PR, media relations, or corporate communications.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage crisis communication effectively.
  • Proficiency in social media management and digital communication tools.
  • Experience working with media equipment (camera, video editing tools) is an added advantage.
