The Big Smile Foundation is a women/youth led non-governmental organization providing humanitarian assistance across the BAY states within Northeast Nigeria. We are committed to improving the everyday life of women and children across Nigeria through working closely with individuals, families, communities, and government through strategic partnership. 

TBSF with support from United Nation Mine Action Service (UNMAS) seeking a highly skilled and experienced community liaison focal point to Liaise with communities, traditional leaders, local authorities, NGOs, INGOs, and other relevant stakeholders to gather information that will support TBSF’s operational planning using interviews, meetings, community mapping and other participatory approaches

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Support the coordination and implementation of all assigned stakeholder level engagements in the communities as outlined in the Project detailed implementation plan in line with FRAD program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules. 
  • Assist TBSF partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences related to stakeholder engagement.
  • Engage with stakeholders at the LGA levels to provide briefing and updates and secure necessary support for the project implementation. 
  • Ensure that essential feedback regarding the program from LGA and state level stakeholders is shared effectively and regularly with TBSF senior management. Work jointly to create and sustain a consistent and unified TBSF’s approach to stakeholder engagement, stakeholder feedback and reporting for TBSF at the community Level.
  • Gather information relating to accidents and survivors of Explosive ordnance within the community of implementation and inform the EORE Instructor .
  • Gather data relating to the impact of TBSF’s work through relevant reports and case studies/success stories
  • Submit clear, legible, accurate and timely reports and documentations to the Supervisor
  • Maintain and care for all equipment issued by TBSF, and ensure to use them efficiently and as appropriate for activity implementation
  • Coordinate daily with the Team Leader, and report immediately any security incidents, significant change in context or deployment plans, and non-compliance concerns
  • Uphold TBSF’s policies, procedures and guidelines – notably on CL, safety and security, and safeguarding – and work towards achieving programme objectives
  • Represent TBSF within communities, partners and/or other stakeholders as required
  • Any other duty as assigned by the team lead

KEY RESPONSILITIES

To ensure coordination, communication, and representation between The Big Smile Foundation and government authorities, partners, community leaders, Beneficiaries and other relevant stakeholders.

The role is needed to ensure smooth operational relations, timely information sharing, and effective follow-up on administrative and programmatic matters that support project implementation in the communities of implementation to deliver life-saving explosive Ordnance risk education.

Requirement

  • Education: Minimum of OND 
  • Experience: 2 years Minimum
  • Must be an indigene and resides in any of the implementing LGAs of Dikwa, Gwoza and Bama local government area of Borno State. 
  • Good writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent Liaison and negotiation skills.
  • Must be organized and practical.
  • Must be Fluent in English, Hausa and Local Language of the location.
  • Must be Friendly and understand child safeguarding 
  • Must Speak English and the understand the Local languages of the communities of implementation.
  • Must be Young and Vibrant.
