Job purpose
- We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented Design and Brand Officer to lead the development and maintenance of high-quality visual assets and ensure consistent application of our brand across all touchpoints.
- This role is responsible for producing visually engaging designs for digital and print materials, building and maintaining branded templates, and supporting internal teams with creative resources. You’ll work closely with colleagues across departments to bring campaigns, programmes, and reports to life through compelling visuals, upholding the professional identity of The AVOCADO Foundation at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Visual Design & Cross-Team Collaboration
- Design a wide range of digital and print assets including social media graphics, flyers, reports, infographics, toolkits, and presentations.
- Apply strong layout, colour, and typography principles to ensure engaging, accessible, and professional outputs.
- Work collaboratively with Digital Marketing, Programme, Fundraising, and Business Development teams to deliver assets aligned with campaign goals and organisational priorities.
- Translate briefs into creative concepts and visuals, advising non-design colleagues and communicating design rationale clearly.
- Manage timelines for multiple design projects, prioritising urgent needs while maintaining consistency and quality.
Brand Management, Templates & Asset Control
- Develop and maintain branded templates (e.g. Canva, PowerPoint, reports) that are easy for internal teams to use while staying on-brand.
- Oversee the visual consistency and branding of the organisation’s website, ensuring design elements, imagery, and tone align with brand guidelines and are regularly updated to reflect current campaigns and priorities
- Ensure consistency in the use of brand colours, fonts, imagery, and tone across all outputs.
- Support staff and collaborators in applying brand elements correctly and confidently in their materials.
- Organise and manage a centralised design and asset library, including icons, logos, photos, and templates.
- Conduct quality control and final checks on all materials to ensure technical accuracy and readiness for publishing or printing.
Innovation, Trends & Brand Evolution
- Stay informed about current trends in design, visual communication, accessibility, and branding within the non-profit and creative industries.
- Recommend new formats, styles, tools, or visual approaches to improve the effectiveness and engagement of our content.
- Where applicable, support light-touch motion graphics or interactive content creation (e.g. social reels, animated elements for presentations).
- Contribute to any brand refreshes or updates by advising on visual direction and rolling out updated materials.
