The Digital Communications Associate will support digital storytelling and content development efforts by creating engaging, mission-aligned content across multiple platforms. This role focuses on editorial execution, digital platform management, and brand-aligned communications, working closely with and reporting to the Communications Lead in a purpose-driven environment focused on gender equity, women’s advocacy, and political inclusion.
The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer and creative content producer who is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation and Management
- Draft and edit high-quality written content, including articles, blog posts, newsletters, emails, and website content.
- Maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent and timely publication across digital platforms.
- Collaborate with internal teams to source programmatic updates and translate them into compelling digital stories.
Digital Platform Support
- Update and manage content on the organization’s website using content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Design and distribute email newsletters and campaigns using tools such as Mailchimp.
- Ensure all digital content adheres to brand guidelines and maintains consistency in tone, style, and voice.
Social Media Collaboration
- Support the Communications Intern with relevant content and guidance to align social media output with strategic communications goals.
- Assist with social media scheduling and content creation using tools like Canva, Planoly, or Hootsuite.
Email Marketing
- Design and implement targeted email campaigns to engage supporters and stakeholders.
- Segment mailing lists and personalize messaging to improve engagement metrics.
- Analyze email performance data and optimize content based on insights.
Internal and External Communications
- Assist the Communications Lead in developing content and materials for external stakeholder engagement.
- Support the creation of internal announcements, event communications, and other organizational messaging.
Brand Consistency and Compliance
- Ensure all digital content aligns with brand guidelines and reinforces consistent messaging.
- Maintain a unified tone, style, and visual identity across platforms.
- Support compliance with digital accessibility standards and data protection regulations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in content development, digital communications, or a similar role.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in content management systems (e.g., WordPress), email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp), and basic design tools (e.g., Canva).
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Passion for women’s empowerment, civic engagement, and social impact storytelling.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with web publishing standards and digital accessibility.
- Understanding of internal communications practices and stakeholder engagement.
