The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. It is currently made up of 193 Member States. Result of Service
- The Graphic Design Assistant is expected to deliver graphics designs for the UN80, and provide professional support for booths/Tents to be used by UN inter-agencies for the exhibitions, Graphics designs for banners and other promotional materials for 16-days activism from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to December 10 (Human Rights Day), and; Supervision of the artwork of the production of the UN Nigeria table top 2026 calendars.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Background The Graphic Design Assistant is required to professionally carry out visual communication projects and initiatives across several media by developing high quality materials for campaigns, workshops, dialogues, meetings with the idea to raise awareness and inspire action on Agenda 2030 and the SDGs in Nigeria and inspire change through pictures.
- This is part of the implementation of the global UN communication strategy at national level, working closely with the Resident Coordinator and UN Country Team in Nigeria through the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
Reporting Line:
- The Graphic Design Assistant will report to the Head of the Resident Coordinator's Office and UNIC will play a day-today supervision role. Location/Duty Station Abuja Responsibilities:
- Design themes, infographics, Layouts and covers of documents.
- Development of figures, including colours, fonts, graphics and layout, and resulting materials such as Newsletters, brochures, banners, posters, fliers and booklets.
- Creation of graphic templates to be used for reports and presentations.
- Preparation of printing packages (all layout and design files) for printing of publications and other communication products (brochures, annual reports, banners, posters, booklets, leaflets, books, calendars, bulletins, flyers, cards)
- Deliver creative and innovative ideas for print, web and interactive presentations. This will require the graphic designer to provide technical solutions for use of new media
- Create animations for illustrative purposes such as animations, presentations and more advanced solutions
- Maintain templates (InDesign, CorelDraw, Publisher Word, PowerPoint etc)
- Provide videography and photographic support to the RCO
- Assist in establishing and be responsible for maintaining photo and video library
- Any other duties as may be requested.
Qualifications/special skills
- A high school diploma is required.
- The years of experience are reduced by 2 for candidates who possess a Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relevant to IT, fine arts, Graphic Design, certified degree in CAD (computer-aided design and drafting) software relevant to the production of maps and illustrations.
- Two (2) years experience is required in working at different CAD environment, mainly at Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and\or Corel Draw and good knowledge at Microsoft Office Word and Excel. Approved experience should be provided in case of non-academic background.
