Reporting to the Director, Knowledge Management, the Head, Content Management (12-Month Contract) will lead the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of the Mastercard Foundation’s Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems, with a strong focus on SharePoint Modern. In this role, you will join a mission-driven Foundation, working alongside a multidisciplinary team at the forefront of knowledge management, digital transformation, and social impact.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader in enterprise content management, with deep expertise in SharePoint administration and information architecture. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving content and records management strategy and execution, including governance, taxonomy, search optimization, and translating business needs into effective, user-friendly digital environments.
The successful candidate will be based in any of our offices in Canada and Africa (Ethiopia, Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Rwanda, Kenya, or Uganda).
WAYS YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE
- Provide strategic and hands-on leadership in the administration and optimization of SharePoint and related Microsoft 365 platforms, including site architecture, permission structures, metadata, and content types.
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and user-friendly enterprise content management (ECM) solutions.
- Develop and enforce taxonomy, metadata standards, and search optimization practices, leveraging SharePoint’s term store and enterprise search capabilities.
- Partner with IT, Cybersecurity, and other stakeholders to ensure strong governance, compliance, and privacy frameworks across ECM initiatives.
- Oversee content migration, site modernization, and the rollout of new SharePoint features and integrations.
- Champion change management, training, and capability-building to drive ECM and SharePoint adoption across the Foundation.
- Translate business needs into technical and information architecture requirements; review and approve related design decisions.
- Guide continuous ECM improvements informed by user feedback, analytics, and emerging best practices.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure the successful delivery and enhancement of ECM and SharePoint services.
- Oversee the Foundation’s Records Management Program, including use of Microsoft Purview for retention and archiving.
WHO YOU ARE
- Bachelor’s degree in Knowledge Management, Information or Library Science, Computer Science, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in enterprise content management, with demonstrated, hands-on expertise as a SharePoint administrator (including SharePoint Online/Modern).
- Relevant certifications in SharePoint, Microsoft 365, Information Architecture, or Project Management are a strong asset.
- Proven experience designing, building, and optimizing SharePoint site architectures, modern pages, content types, permission models, and metadata strategies.
- Advanced knowledge of information architecture, taxonomy development, term store management, and federated search within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of governance, compliance, security, and change management practices as applied to SharePoint and ECM platforms.
- Track record of leading and developing high-performing technical and functional teams, including cross-functional and remote staff.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; able to translate business needs into robust digital solutions.
- Strategic, adaptable, and service-oriented, with a deep commitment to knowledge equity and the mission of the Foundation.
- Possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate information to a variety of constituents across cultures.
