Position Summary:
- The Communications and Content Intern will support the organization’s communication strategy by developing high-quality content, managing social media platforms, and assisting in the documentation of project outcomes and success stories. This role is ideal for a creative and proactive individual with a passion for storytelling, digital media, and promoting social change through compelling communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation and Documentation:
- Assist in writing blogs, newsletters, reports, success stories, and press releases.
- Support in editing and proofreading program-related documents and publications.
- Collect testimonials, case studies, and impact stories from project sites and beneficiaries.
Social Media and Digital Engagement:
- Help manage and grow the organization’s social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, LinkedIn, YouTube) through daily content creation and posting.
- Create visually appealing content including graphics, captions, infographics, and short videos using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, cap cut, etc
- Monitor trends and engagement, and suggest improvements to increase reach and visibility.
Events and Campaign Support:
- Assist in the planning and promotion of events, webinars, campaigns, and launches.
- Document program activities and community events through photography, videography, and real-time posts.
Website and Media Support:
- Update content on the organization’s website as required.
- Assist in preparing communication materials for donors, partners, and stakeholders.
- Maintain an archive of photo and video content for organizational use.
Gender and Inclusive Communication:
- Ensure that all content developed is inclusive, gender-sensitive, and reflective of the diversity of the communities served.
- Support the promotion of gender equity and youth voices in communication outputs.
Requirements:
- Education: Recent serving NYSC graduate/ND (Diploma) in Mass Communication, Media Studies, Journalism, English, Development Studies, or a related field.
Skills:
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with social media management and analytics tools.
- Basic design and video editing skills using tools like Canva, Adobe Photoshop, capcut or Premiere Pro.
- Excellent social media management and engagement with different stakeholders
- Ability to manage IAIDI- Nigeria’s social media pages and maintain strict professionalism and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to craft human-interest stories with impact.
- Creativity, attention to detail, and an eye for visual storytelling.
Desirable:
- Experience volunteering or interning with an NGO.
- Understanding of gender-sensitive and inclusive communication practices.
- Willing to abide by IAIDI-Nigeria code of conduct
